This kind of preparation makes all the difference in the world. Our international football academy coaches can always tell the difference between players who work to prepare, and those who just show up at our football academies. For you, it could be the difference between watching from the sidelines and actually achieving your football goals.

International football academy training and conditioning

The first step is setting targets and goals you want to reach in football. You can do that on a per-month basis. For example, if you're arriving at your football academy in September, set yourself a 6-month program to decide where you want to be in terms of physical condition.

The idea is to set realistic, measurable targets. Set your targets based on an assessment of yourself, not your peers. You know where you're at right now, and you know you want to be in the best possible shape when you arrive at an international football academy to begin your soccer training.

Look to make that improvement every week, every month. Month one can have a number of fitness elements: pushups, 50-yard sprint, 400-yard at half-pace, etc. Bear in mind that in football one must be match fit. You'll need a lot of strength in both your upper and lower bodies, and the endurance to run for 90 minutes with little rest, in order to achieve success at the highest level.

You'll be better off making goals you know you can meet to improve yourself little by little. And you'll be more likely to stay on target. You can count the number of reps you do, and increase by 15 percent by the end of the month. That's realistic. Increasing it by 75 percent? That's probably not realistic.

It's easy to say things like "I'm too tired, so I think I'll skip that two hours I set aside for language or academics." Or let yourself get distracted by friends or going to the movies instead of training.

This is where 95 percent of people don't succeed: they don't stick with the plan they put into place. One difference between the pros and those who don't make it: pros stick with the program. Only the athletes with true grit and determination make it to the highest level.

Ask yourself to be that special athlete (and student) by showing extreme commitment and determination. You can do it if you are mentally disciplined enough to commit fully!

It's easier to achieve training targets or goals when you're in an international football academy program. Players have less trouble sticking with the football training schedule because someone else (the football coach or manager) is setting up the training program for you. Everyone around you is pushing you to perform. You have teammates doing the same thing.

Attending an international football academy is much more demanding than any other academic or cultural exchange program abroad. You're committing yourself to being ready, mentally and physically, to participate as a footballer in the football development academy. You will be training daily over a nine-month period.

Put it in your mind that the work starts the day you commit to register to get the maximum benefit. This means you should arrive ready and prepared to get the most out of your international football academy experience.

In a bizarre end to a drama-filled Crocodile Park Night Football League, Solido FC captured the overall title on a night they crashed out in the eliminations along with their bitter rivals Metro TMS.

The night started with both Solido FC and Metro TMS on collision course for a much-anticipated encounter that will determine the overall champion of this football trilogy. However, all that banished with a few matches left in the third leg’s elimination round as Solido, with only two wins to show in six elimination matches, bowed out first from a semis appearance that would have given them a psychological edge for the overall title.

For a fleeting moment, the title frenzy crept into the nerves of Metro TMS which needed only two draws in their final two matches in the eliminations round. Instead of playing to secure two draws, Metro TMS got all carried over with the prospects of snatching the title away from Solido and instead drew one but lost their final outing to Phl Rabies-Med Juris in a painful twist of fate that also booted them out of the semis and the title picture.

With Metro TMS also gone, Solido rolled out the celebration. Here’s a team which lost out of the semis but still got plenty to spare to take home the prestigious Crocodile Cup, a real crocodile head stuffed with a football, and the bragging rights as Kings of the Croc Field.

Solido FC team captain Boboy Arrieta, who had to attend to a business engagement and failed to suit up, arrived at a time when his team was going down. He watched intently from the sidelines hoping for a miracle. For a team leader, that was the hardest thing to do—just pray the other teams won’t catch up with you and not even suit up.

“I was already thinking wala na talaga. But then suddenly the guys came celebrating after the matches in the other field,” said Arrieta. “It feels great.”

“We played very tight, we did not have fun out there. Pus there are the defensive lapses we committed,” Metro TMS playing coach Eric Sedighpour said. “We will come back next time.”

Belisario, Phl Rabies-Med Juris and Kingfisher tied for fourth with 55 points. KMMPC (45) finished 5^th while FC Soriente and Club 34 (40) tied for 6^th. Rounding up the standings are Fil-Chi, Central United, UIC, UM and DMMA.

Fil-Dutch Bayani Vandenbroek, German Dietmar Speckmaier and team captain Josef Montalan scored one goal each for Alia Orange to frustrate Kingfisher, a team composed of foreign students in Davao, in the third leg finale of this first ever night football tournament at the Davao Crocodile Park football field.

BARCELONA, KOMPAS.com — Tiga gol dalam satu pertandingan. Tak semua pemain sepak bola bisa melakukannya. Namun, Lionel Andres Messi melakukannya lebih sering. Terakhir kali, dia mencetak hat-trick dalam laga Liga BBVA melawan Atletico Madrid, Sabtu (24/9/2011). Manuvernya membuat Barcelona menang 5-0 atas Atletico. Pekan sebelumnya, hat-trick juga disarangkannya dalam liga yang sama. Karya Messi membuat "El Barca" mampu mencukur habis Osasuna 8-0.
Jadi, hat-trick bagi Messi tampak seperti prestasi biasa saja. Pasalnya, Messi tercatat pernah mencetak quad-trick dalam satu pertandingan. Empat gol disarangkannya ke gawang Arsenal pada leg ke-2 perempat final Liga Champions 2010 sehingga membuat Barca menang 4-1 atas "The Gunners".
Kemampuannya menjadi mesin gol tak perlu diragukan. Pemain asal Argentina ini disebut-sebut sebagai calon pemecah rekor jumlah gol dalam sejarah Barcelona yang selama ini masih dipegang oleh Cesar Rodriguez dengan 235 gol. Hal ini tampak mungkin ketika mendapati Messi sudah mengoleksi delapan gol di Liga BBVA dari lima pertandingan pada musim ini. Jadi, selama kariernya di Camp Nou hingga saat ini, koleksi golnya sudah mencapai 192 gol. Pria yang lahir di Santa Fe, Argentina, ini pun bertekad bisa memecahkan rekor itu.
"Bertahun-tahun sudah berlalu dan (pemegang rekor gol Barca) masih orang yang sama. Aku berharap bisa memecahkan rekor ini. Aku akan terus berusaha memecahkan rekor," ungkapnya.
Karier sepak bolanya bermula pada tahun 1995 di Newell's Old Boys, sebuah klub di Argentina, dan berakhir pada tahun 2000. Pada umurnya yang ke-13, Messi remaja yang memiliki cita-cita besar untuk menjadi pemain sepak bola dunia pun kemudian terbang ke Barcelona untuk bergabung dengan grup U-14 di sana.
Kemajuan demi kemajuan dalam latihan membuat Messi pun dilirik untuk bergabung di tim senior. Pada usia ke-16, dia mulai diajak berlaga dalam pertandingan persahabatan dengan Porto dan hasilnya memuaskan. Tepat sebulan setelah dia berumur 17 tahun, debut Messi dalam pertandingan resmi pun dimulai. Pada tanggal 16 Oktober 2004, Messi bermain dalam laga melawan Espanyol di Stadion Olympic yang berakhir dengan kemenangan Barcelona 1-0.
Messi pun sering dipanggil untuk menjadi skuad Barcelona. Sejumlah momen, ketika banyak pemain inti yang mengalami cedera, menjadi keuntungan bagi Messi untuk membuktikan kemampuannya. Musim 2005-2006 merupakan tahun gebrakan bagi Messi. Pada musim ini, penampilan terbaiknya memukau klub dan juga dunia, mulai dari pertandingan melawan Juventus dalam Joan Gamper Trophy sampai melawan Chelsea di Liga Champions. Messi terus bergerak maju pada musim-musim berikutnya, hingga mampu mencetak 16 gol dan memberikan 10 umpan dalam 40 pertandingan pada musim 2007-2008. Prestasi ini pun mengantarkannya untuk dinobatkan sebagai pemain terbaik di dunia versi FIFA pada tahun 2009.
Bintang Messi pun terus bersinar. Pada musim 2008-2009, Messi makin menggila dengan bisa mencetak 38 gol dalam 51 kali pertandingan. Maka tak heran, dia kembali dinobatkan menjadi pemain terbaik di dunia oleh FIFA. Messi juga meraih penghargaan bergengsi untuk pemain terbaik Eropa atau Ballon d'Or 2009 yang kemudian juga diraihnya kembali pada tahun 2010.
Pendek bukan halangan
Messi membuktikan bahwa kekurangan diri tidak berbanding lurus dengan kegagalan. Dia didiagnosis menderita kekurangan hormon pertumbuhan 13 tahun silam. Lahir dalam kondisi serba pas-pasan dengan ayah yang hanya buruh pabrik dan ibu yang hanya petugas kebersihan paruh waktu membuat Messi tak pernah berpikir bisa menjalani pengobatan hormon pertumbuhan. Namun, orang tahu kemampuannya.
Klub besar Argentina, River Plate, yang pernah mengendus talentanya, menyerah setelah tahu biaya untuk mengobati kelainan hormonnya. Barcelona pun bersedia membiayai terapinya hingga saat ini tingginya mencapai 169 cm.
Tinggi Messi ini sebenarnya masih tergolong kate dibandingkan fisik pemain bola yang pada umumnya memiliki tinggi 180 cm. Namun, putra Jorge Messi dan Celia ini akhirnya berhasil membuktikan bahwa tinggi badan bukanlah segalanya bagi pemain sepak bola lewat sundulan kepalanya ke gawang Manchester United pada final Liga Champions 2009. Sampai sekarang, Messi terus membukukan gol demi gol. Baginya, kerja keras dan kemauan untuk maju menjadi hal yang terpenting.
Dipuja tetapi rendah hati
Kemampuannya tak perlu diragukan dan prestasinya selangit. Dia terkenal dengan penguasaan teknik bermain bola dan kecepatan, visi yang luar biasa, mentalitas haus gol, dan kemampuan untuk lolos dari kawalan lawan. Bahkan, pemain sepak bola legendaris asal Argentina, Maradona, tak segan-segan menganggap Messi sebagai titisannya. Semua orang pun mulai berpikir bahwa Messi adalah "Diego Maradona baru".
Tak hanya dikenal sebagai pemain sepak bola, Messi juga kini dikenal sebagai model Dolce and Gabbana (D&G) dan kerap menghiasi sampul majalah-majalah mode kelas dunia. Dia pun dinobatkan menjadi pesepak bola terkaya di dunia pada 2011, seperti dirilis Sports Illustrated, dengan total pendapatan 43,8 juta dollar AS atau sekitar Rp 375,8 miliar.
Namun, segudang pujian, kekayaan, dan kemampuan yang hebat itu lantas tidak membuatnya sombong. Messi dikenal sebagai pribadi yang rendah hati. Messi pun mengakui bahwa dirinya pemalu. Respons-responsnya mengenai prestasi yang telah diraihnya menunjukkan itu. Ketika dipuji atas hat-trick pada pertandingan terakhir melawan Atletico, Messi hanya mengatakan trigol itu bisa dicapainya karena bantuan rekan-rekannya.
"Aku harus berterima kasih kepada rekanku. Kami telah menunjukkan bahwa ketika bermain baik, maka kami menikmati sepak bola yang kami mainkan," ujar Messi kepada AS.
Waktu menerima penghargaan Ballon d'Or pun Messi masih merasa enggan disebut sebagai pemain terbaik di dunia. Dia pun mempersembahkan penghargaan itu kepada klub dan para rekannya.
"Tolong, saya bukan pemain nomor satu. Saya masih orang yang sama seperti dulu, dan beruntung bermain di klub hebat," dalam wawancara dengan koran Spanyol, El Periodico.
"Saya tak merasa menjadi yang terbaik. Yang terbaik itu Barca. (Penghargaan) ini menutup tahun menakjubkan bagi Barcelona, rekan-rekan, dan saya. Ini tak mungkin tanpa peran rekan-rekan. Penghargaan ini buat mereka juga," katanya saat menerima trofi dari Presiden UEFA Michel Platini.

Solido back with a vengeance, takes Croc League 2nd leg

Solido FC came back with a vengeful night and all of a sudden found themselves perched on top of the
standings in the 2011 Davao Crocodile Park Croctoberfest Night Football League.

Solido’s youthful three-headed offensive line of Jed Diamante, Javi Romero-Salas and Miko Arrieta
proved to be the difference as the Orangemen took home the second leg title at the expense of surprise
finalist Belisario FC 2-0 at the DCP Field.

Romero-Salas opened up the scoring in the first half with a blast from 10 yards after a nifty pass from
fellow Little Azkal Diamante. In the second, Romero-Salas returned the favour and Diamante booted
home another marker for the final score line.

Everyone was expecting another Metro TMS-Solido finale after the bitter rivals which disputed the title
in the first leg last week once again topped their respective groups. First leg champion Metro TMS easily
topped Group A with wins against a loss while Solido finished on top of Group B with 3 wins, 2 draws
and 1 loss. FC Soriente (4-1-1) and Belisario (3-1-2) completed the semis cast.

But in a surprise twist, Metro TMS gave up two successive goals late in the match to bow down to
Belisario. Solido meantime beat Soriente to advance to their second straight finals appearance.

“Hard work paid off for us. I hope we can sustain our momentum for the third and final leg,” said Buboy
Arrieta, Solido FC team captain.

Thus, after two legs Solido overtook Metro TMS on top of the standings with 85 points in this football
trilogy organized by the Davao Crocodile Park and Bravetower Events Promotions. Metro TMS dropped
to second overall with 75. Belisario climbed to third overall with 35 followed by Black Knights-KMPPC
with 35, Phl Rabies and Soriente (30).

Club 34, Kingfisher, UIC, DMMA, UM CAE, Alia Orange, and Central United are tied with 20 points while Fil-Chi has 10.

A total of 14 squads are entered in the tournament sanctioned by the Davao Football Association and
supported by the Davao Football Community. The final leg will be on Friday night with the overall
champion receiving the rare Crocodile Cup made up of real crocodile head.(pr)
